Horoscope, in Astrology, symbolizes position of planets, and other heavenly bodies, in conjunction with other events, such as person's birth. The word "horoscope" had Greek origin, meaning "a look at the hours". In English, there are other names used for horoscope: astro-chart, chart, sky-map, celestial map, cosmogram, star-chart, radical chart, vitasphere, radix amid others. It is used for prediction, forecast and calculation of various events it represents and it is a base of forms for astrological horoscopic traditions. In daily use, horoscope is referred to as interpretation of an astrologer, typically through so called sun sign astrology. Many daily media, including newspapers, TV and magazines feature horoscopes based on personal birth zodiac, categorizing the sun sign of the person. There are 12 astrological zodiac signs: Aries, Taurus, Aquarius, Gemini, Leo, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Libra, Sagittarius, Pisces, Capricorn. Horoscopes represent astrological underpinnings of human behavior and outlook. It is based on time and place of birth, and can be construed as a general pattern of personality traits and character that people of the same birth time share, regardless of environmental factors in upbringing. Horoscopes reveal inherent traits, weaknesses and strengths of individuals born in that star sign. They have been used for thousands of years and are predicated on star and heavenly body alignments and their gravitational effect on human bodies, the instant they come into this world. Horoscopes should be used as general guidelines in living, and as windows into questions of “why”, that is, why we are the way we are. This acceptance of oneself then becomes the cornerstone to self-discovery and a new openness to the world of following spiritual understanding in everyday life. Examples include periods of “retrograde”, where important decisions should not be made since junctions in life often take pinpoint timing and full mental and spiritual capacity. In order to fully exploit the learning and wisdom conferred through Horoscopes, one must be able to internalize such knowledge and anticipate life’s ebbs and flows through the lens of your inherent make-up, and how your destiny is determined by forces out of your control. |
